A Journey in Wine
The name La Randonnée is French for "a hike” or “a trek.” For us, Kevin and Clodagh, it represents more than the translation, it reflects the paths that brought us together and led us into wine. We began our label with Pinot Noir in the 2014 vintage, but our journey continues to evolve as an exploration of nature, creativity, and craft.
Kevin grew up in the wide-open landscapes of Colorado and exploring his family’s farm in Iowa. Being part of a generations-long farming family did not immediately suggest that he would become a farmer himself, but later he found himself wanting a greater connection with the land. He realized that it was on hikes in the Colorado Rockies that his spirit became intertwined with nature.
Clodagh grew up in the center of Dublin, and like anyone accustomed to the city her feet took her where she needed to go in all sorts of weather. Nature can be unforgiving living on an island, but the spirit of the Irish finds the humor in all types of weather and any uncomfortable situation.
Our journey together began in Ireland where we met in a Hillwalking club, appropriately named the Bootleggers! Today we live in Hillsboro, and instead of taking our journey to the farm, we bring the story of the vineyards to you through our wines. It is the personal connections and the opportunity to wind our story together with yours that we find the most rewarding part of our Randonnée.
